Black Swan

For my first personal project of 2025, I set out to create a title sequence for one of my all-time favorite films. Black Swan flawlessly combines the serenity of ballet within a broken and haunted world, so the title sequence had to behave in the same way. Through a black and white palette, softened blurs, heavy vignettes, and heavy grain (and I mean very heavy), the title sequence captures the film’s haunting contrast.

A closer look at some of the still art in each scene. Photoshop and After Effects were my primary tools, along with some image generation in Midjourney.

Process

Ideation is the most important part of any project. It all starts with the moodboard.
