I animated cinemagraphs (or moving posters) to promote Disney’s new Descendants movie, The Rise of Red. I animated three versions of their key art: the hero, the teaser, and the character sell. The cinemagraphs were then versioned for several out-of-home formats, including billboards and mall signs.
Hero
Using After Effects, I added in subtle animation to the elements to bring the hero key art to life, including card trail animation, sparkles, logo sheen, heart staff shimmering, and cloud movement.
Teaser
Also using After Effects, we animated the logo, fog, clouds, playing cards, and of course, Red’s magic stopwatch. This one was especially challenging as it had to loop perfectly.
Character Sell
Disney provided footage of the cast to create Red’s individual character sell. Using an AI upscaler, I composited her within the spinning clock animation.
Out-Of-Home
I worked on versioning for each animation to fit a wide variety of out-of-home sizes.
